Lucky number 7!

There are 7 weeks to go until we are on our way (pretty much down to the minute), so here are 7 things you need  to know about our fast approaching Las Vegas shindig.

Number 1 - On-Board Baggage Allowance.

You may each take 1 piece of hand baggage on board.
Individual dimensions not to exceed 23 x 36 x 56cm, and 6kg in weight.

In addition to the cabin baggage allowance, the following personal items may be carried on board:
  • A handbag, pocketbook or purse i.e. which is appropriate to normal travelling dress and is not being used as a container for the transportation of articles which could otherwise be regarded as baggage.
  • An overcoat or wrap.
  • An umbrella (pointed or/and sharp prohibited) or walking stick.
  • A small camera and/or pair of binoculars.
  • A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.
  • Infants food for consumption in flight.
  • A small amount of duty free goods.
  • Personal headphones may be used as long as they are fitted with the standard 3.5mm jack.
Number 2 - Hold Baggage Allowance

You are allowed 1 bag no heavier than 23kg in weight with dimensions no bigger than 90 x 75 x43cm

Number 3 - Seating Arrangements

While we have taken the opportunity to block book seats on the plane for both the outgoing and return journey, once we have been issued the tickets (roughly 3 weeks before we go), they can be moved if you want. However, once you move your seats you will then be responsible for checking yourself in and booking your seats 24 hours before we depart Vegas. Please email us if you want your booking reference to move your seat.

Number 4 - Checking In Options

a) Good old fashioned "at the kiosk" check in - you already have seats so it will just be a case of being at the airport roughly 90 minutes prior to take-off, check in and then drop your bags off.

b) Online check in - you can check in online from 24 hours prior to departure, and print your boarding card off at home so all you have to do it drop your bags off when you get to the airport

c) Twilight check-in - check in between noon and 9pm the night before you fly from London Gatwick. Please ensure that all passengers travelling together are present with all documentation and baggage. Then turn up at the Gate at least 50 minutes prior to departure with your boarding pass. It really is that easy and a real bonus if you're on an early morning flight.

Number 5 - Temperature in Las Vegas

The average temperature in Las Vegas in April is a lovely 25 degrees so make sure you pack them summer clothes!

Number 6 - Whilst we are there

There are thousands of things to do in Vegas, and whilst we only have plans for the Friday and Wednesday Night (please see below), we will be sending around our itinery over the coming weeks, and if anyone would like to join in with us, then please do let us know because it is definately the more the merrier!

Number 7 - Hen/Stag do

We were hoping to have a joint mini hen/stag do on the Wednesday night, details of which have yet to be decided!

Travel Insurance....boring, boring, boring....

Now that the Vegas trip has all been paid for, its probably about time to have a little looksie at Travel Insurance.

Remember the ash cloud last year, BA lost our luggage (and are constantly on strike), Sam ALWAYS gets bitten by something weird which requires medical treatment etc etc.

We are covered annually via Virgin, but individually everybody else needs to be covered in case anything goes "pete tong" - before, during or after the trip.

Some of you maybe covered via your current account etc, but its worth checking.

Money Saving Expert has a great page on Travel Insurance - please see below link (they also recommend Virgin as being the cheapest for worldwide travel under 50's, and High Risk for worldwide travel over 50's).

Thank you Thank you Thank you....

....we have now paid the final bill for Vegas, thank you very much everyone for paying us so promptly.

10 weeks to go......we should receive a pack containing the tickets, baggage labels etc etc in 6 weeks time.

Online booking will open for us all to check in (we already have our seats as we are group booking so no worries about people being sat apart). Nearer the time I will post the reference numbers needed.

Alternatively, Gatwick operates a "Twilight Check-In" service, where if you want, you can go to the airport the night before to check in all your bags and get your boarding card (if you havent printed it off via checking in online). This is a great service if you are planning on a) trying to get a cheaper upgrade to premium, or b) if you want to purchase the emergency exit seats for the extra leg room. I believe these are £75 each way.

(FYI - I  think the pictures/videos I have been uploading dont appear on email, you have to log on to the blog to see them)
